Sharing our love for healthy cooking
Bringing nutrition education state-wide
Our fantastic nutrition education program is stirring up excitement across the State.
Recently, we visited Nerrigen Brook Primary School across five weeks in February and March, to deliver our nutrition education and cooking program with families. Ten families learnt about healthy eating, packing a nutritious lunch box, reading food labels and food safety. Families were given five recipe books to choose from to cook each week. They also all enjoyed tasting the yummy meals!
Meagan loved attending the classes and seeing her son building more confidence with food and cooking. “At first Oli didn’t want to do it. He felt he wouldn’t enjoy himself or the food. By the fifth lesson he was excited for the cooking class and has been loving trying the different foods”.
We have been busy travelling to deliver programs in the Wheatbelt and Wiluna, where we delivered more than 20 sessions to schools and school holiday programs.
Thank you to CBH for making this trip possible.
We have been active in the metro area too. The City of Belmont recently hosted a budgeting information and demonstration evening where we shared tips and suggestions to reduce waste, save money when meal planning and meet both ends. Before cooking and serving up our delicious Lean Mean Curry served with Toasty Flat Bread. Participants were really impressed by how quick and tasty these recipes were. We overhead one participant saying “It gave me inspiration to cook”.
We helped students at Newman College learn about what we do and how they can reduce food waste in Australia. They also kindly donated non-perishable and staple foods. Thank you Newman College!
