Perth Markets supports Foodbank
for more than a decade

Perth Markets is Western Australia’s only wholesale fruit and vegetable market. Operating from a purpose-built Site on 51 hectares at Canning Vale, Perth Markets provides the critical link between growers, wholesalers, retailers and the fresh produce supply chain.

With more than 100 businesses within the site receiving, storing, trading and distributing highly perishable fresh fruit and vegetables in the most efficient manner available to meet the ever-increasing demand, market operations are complex.

The image depicts a vibrant community event or gathering, likely held in a warehouse or similar indoor setting, as indicated by the industrial environment and signage like "Brian Fresh Produce." Four adults are actively engaged in serving food, dressed in high-visibility safety vests, which suggests a well-organized event, possibly a community service or volunteer effort. In the foreground, a man is holding a hot dog with a smile, surrounded by trays of more hot dogs and sausages, all ready to be served. The table is well-stocked with fresh buns and condiments like ketchup and mustard, catering to the attendees’ tastes. Other participants in the background are busy with various tasks, contributing to the smooth operation of the event.

Wholesalers offer an extensive range of product variety, quality and price and have access to a large customer base with more than 760 registered buyers.

Every morning for more than 11 years, Foodbank WA have been on the front lines at Perth Markets rescuing fresh fruit and vegetables.

This image captures a lively food distribution event under a marquee at Perth markets, featuring a banner that reads "Hunger in Australia - Foodbank." Volunteers in high-visibility vests are actively serving a variety of hot dishes, including sausages, from metal trays. Fresh bread rolls are also available, highlighting the community's effort to combat hunger. The setting, marked by organization and cooperation, underscores the charitable initiative to feed those in need.

We are lucky to have 10-15 regular donors and 30+ donors who give when they can. The Perth Markets play a key role in helping us connect with growers and rescuing their produce. Every day, we average six pallets – bananas, cauliflower, broccoli, apples – you name it. Mondays are extra special, as we scoop up what hasn’t found a home after the weekend markets

On Thursday 1 August Foodbank WA organised a sausage sizzle on-site at Perth Markets to thank those that support us and to spread the word about what we do here at Foodbank to those who may not yet know.

Thank you Perth Markets, this is how we help get meals to those who need it most.
