A partnership for
health and hope

ATCO and Foodbank WA have been working together to bring positive, impactful change to young people in our communities, especially in areas where food insecurity is a pressing issue. Through this partnership, we’ve collaborated with organisations in Bunbury as well as Headspace Fremantle, Alta College in Como, and the Police Citizens Youth Club. Together our efforts have facilitated focus on a vulnerable group, our youth, who often face higher risks of food insecurity and related health challenges.

In the past year, thanks to this generous support, we delivered nutrition education sessions on healthy eating for young people across the metro area and in Australind. These sessions focus not only on the basics of nutrition but also on making informed food choices while staying within a budget—an essential skill in today’s challenging economy.

One of the highlights was a recent nutrition education and cooking session at Healthy Eating Hub in Fremantle, in collaboration with Headspace. Youth participants enjoyed an interactive experience, cooking, tasting, and learning about different nutritious recipes. “It was really yummy!” commented one participant, as they tried various dishes and learned just how enjoyable healthy food can be. These fun and engaging moments in the kitchen foster a sense of empowerment, showing young people that cooking is a skill within their reach—and one that can benefit their health and wellbeing.

Our partnership with ATCO is committed to empowering youth head-on by giving young people the knowledge and confidence to make healthier choices. As we look to the future, we are excited to continue expanding our reach, ensuring more youth in Western Australia have access to these essential skills.

Thank you, ATCO, for your commitment to our mission and for making a lasting impact on the lives of young people in our community.

Tasty learning for life
