We are in the midst of a dangerous, emerging situation.
More than 500km of coast is being inundated with rain. There are 70 evacuation orders across the state. More than 3,500 people have requested assistance from the NSW SES in the past 48 hours alone.Thousands of people are once again at risk of losing everything as flood waters tear communities apart. For people in the Hawkesbury Nepean area, they are facing their fourth flood in 18 months. And some of these same areas suffered from the Black Summer bushfires as well.
While the scale of the flood crisis is still unfolding, with thousands affected so far, we know we need to be ready to urgently respond. Foodbank NSW & ACT will work with our charity partners to help flood affected areas in a safe manner by providing food, water and other essential supplies.
Weāre getting many enquiries about how you can best help us in this time. The most important thing right now is for everyone to stay safe and follow all instructions of the SES. This includes limiting leaving your house and staying off the roads as much as possible.
