nom! tickles taste buds

We recently met with the Local Government Health and Wellbeing Group which meets every three months and discusses issues surrounding the health portfolio, the various activities running in respective local government areas, grants and any other pending related issues.

The sessions are always very interesting and informative, this time around the Metro Health Service attended and discussed where they are at with health initiatives – which gives us invaluable insight into what is happening in various communities around us. There was a great mix of other topics with the Cancer Council delivering a session on Vaping and there was also had a session on the Western Australian Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Strategy for 2025-2030.

In addition, the morning included a “round the table” information session which highlighted the latest local government initiatives.

We were super excited to be involved with a 45 minute session reserved for us to finish off the morning where we showcased what our nom! sessions involve. This included running through a shortened version of our Shopping on a Budget and Healthy Eating activities. The most popular and fun portion of the morning was definitely where all in attendance taste-tested our very own crazy corn dip and Atomic Apple Crumble recipes. nom! indeed.

Representatives attending our nom! session were really interested in the collaborating with us with several local government areas expressing interest in nom! nutrition education and cooking sessions for next year.
