nom! Magic in Manjimup
During August and September, we travelled down to beautiful Manjimup to bring the nom! Children nutrition education and cooking program to the Southwest. We worked with the Manjimup Family Centre to deliver four sessions to eight families.
The families learnt about healthy eating, some tips on how to make mealtimes less stressful, information about food label reading and much more. Many healthy and delicious recipes were cooked and eaten together, and families enjoyed getting to know each other
There was something for everyone, Better Bean Dip, One Pot Gnocch– out, Crunchy Noodle Salad, Mini Pizzas, Lean Mean Curry, Rockin’ Rice Paper Rolls, and for those with a sweet tooth, Atomic Apple Crumble and the delicious Berry Nice Cheesecake.
Once all the cooking was done, mums, dads and grandparents took their culinary creations into the creche to enjoy eating together. All of the carers were impressed with the enthusiasm with which the kids approached eating new and different foods.
Both adults and kids took home recipe books keen to keep their feeding journey going at home.
Ruth and her team at the Manjimup Family Centre were wonderful hosts, and we look forward to working together in the future to continue reaching families with young children in regional WA.
Thanks to Telethon and Roy Hill for their ongoing support to bring this free program to families across the state.
