nom! at the Perth Royal Show

We had an absolutely amazing time at the Perth Royal Show last month, where we hosted a total of 40 free 30-minute nom! Kids cooking workshops.

nom! at the Perth Royal Show

Our nom! Kids workshops ran between 10.30am to 3.00pm each day, seeing as many as 25 kids in one go! Each session sought to teach kids how to read recipes, get excited about food, prepare healthy dishes, and enjoy the fun of cooking. We talked about our Superhero Foods®and other Foodbank WA resources that are designed to encourage healthy eating and make cooking more fun.  The kids worked in small groups to cook up tasty, sweet or savoury snacks, and by the end of the workshop they left with some delicious food to fuel them for a day full of Show excitement.

With five workshops daily over eight days, we had 741 kids joining us, where they made our Herbalicious Garlic Dip, or our Atomic Apple Crumble Cups.

There were lots of smiles and full tummies, and even more parents impressed by how their kids could get involved in preparing such delicious, nutrient-packed meals using the five core food groups.

We couldn’t have done this without the generous support of our amazing partners, Etheringtons, Brownes Dairy and Sweeter Banana, who donated fresh cucumbers, dairy, and bananas to use in our workshops. We also want to acknowledge the Royal Agricultural Society for their incredible support. Your contributions helped us make the event even more special.

The energy and enthusiasm were through the roof, and we loved hearing the fantastic feedback from kids and families.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated and supported nom! Kids at the Show.

Enjoy tasty learning for life
