Miri’s Story

Unable to work and living with a disability pension, Miri was struggling to afford food when she sought out assistance from Foodbank.

“I’m recently divorced and on disability pension. I can’t work due to health issues and with a small pension, it is very difficult to do the basics like rent, electricity, gas etc. That doesn’t leave much for food.”

“I have Celiac Disease but spent about 4 weeks living just off bread. After this I became very ill and had nowhere to go for help.”

“I found Eco group on Facebook and they gave me a voucher to shop at Foodbank. It’s been just over a month and now I can eat healthy again without looking for handouts.”
