Foodbank helping kids
in Ngganyatjarra

Our friends at Prepare Produce Provide are preparing for their annual 4,000km Central Desert road trip to deliver their Dust Up culinary program.

Guided by Indigenous elders and chefs, participants learn traditional cooking methods, gather bush ingredients, and gain insights into their ancestral culinary heritage. The program fosters cultural pride and culinary skills and kids come from across the lands partaking in sport, dance, music, fireworks and of course creating yummy healthy food.

The image shows a busy kitchen setting, likely in a school or community center. It features three individuals: a woman in a black chef's uniform operating kitchen equipment, a young woman in a hijab assisting her, and another young person in a blue and red uniform, looking on. The kitchen is equipped with stainless steel counters and various cooking supplies. The overall scene suggests a hands-on cooking class or food preparation session.

On the road trip they will also cook “On Country” for the Dust Up sports day at the Ngganyatjarra Lands School Event. This event sees 350 people from nine remote schools participate in three days of sports. And they need a tasty and healthy menu to support all that exercise!

This is where we come in…

Cooking for 350 people on the road is no easy feat with limited facilities, though bulk cooking is something our Community Kitchen Chef Grant knows well. We are partnering with Prepare Provide Produce to prepare a range of menu items ahead of time to make it easier for everyone to get fed at Dust Up.

The team at Prepare Provide Produce with Perth students and volunteers joined us in our nom! Kitchen in late July and cooked up a storm!
