Featuring our Community Partner, Reach Community Initiatives
At Foodbank NSW & ACT, we work with over 700 organisations located across the state and territory that we call our ‘Community Partners’. They vary from small, grassroots community groups to larger charitable organisations. Our Community Partners order and receive food directly from our warehouse in Western Sydney to distribute out to local families in need.
This month, we’re featuring Reach Community Initiatives (RCI), Foodbank community partner based in Ryde, NSW.
RCI has been a Foodbank partner since 2016, supporting their local community doing it tough with food relief, access to information and professional referral networks. They run several courses and events throughout the year that help equip people with practical life skills and connect them with others in their local community.
The RCI Team is led by Chris Brady, under the directorship of Richard and Cathie Green. Chris is passionate about seeing people “move out” of crisis and “move into” a better future.
To be able to provide a simple, accessible and temporary solution to peoples food supply needs, who are often facing complex situations, eases a significant burden.
It brings dignity and respect back into their household enabling them to continue with hope and energy to face the next challenge.
Supplementing pantry items with fresh produce, when it’s available, brings greater variety and nutrition for our recipients.”
We rely on incredible organisations like Reach Community Initiatives to get food relief to families in need. If you’re in the Ryde, NSW area needing food support, RCI is available Monday to Thursday, 10 am to 4 pm. To make an appointment please call (02) 9807 2500 or you can visit their website to learn more: reachcommunity.com.au.
