Richmond and Collingwood supporting Foodbank Victoria through Charity Shield for second year
With help from Tigers and Pies fans supporting the second annual Charity Shield game on Wednesday, 26th February, we can make a difference for the crowd of 69,000 Victorians relying on Foodbank for their next meal every day
When the Tigers and Pies played their first game of VFL back in 1908, Victoria’s population was 1.4 million. 100 years later, Foodbank is feeding 1.4 million Victorians every three weeks through our network of more than 500 charity partners and 1,000 schools across the state.
We also run fresh food markets and mobile supermarket buses in communities around the state so families doing it tough can come and collect enough fresh veggies, fruit and pantry staples for an entire week – for free!
“It’s a huge relief that these two great footy clubs have joined forces once again to play the Charity Shield game for Foodbank. Can’t wait to see that fierce intent on the field, and in the stands, to help make sure we can support our communities right through the season, ” Foodbank Victoria CEO Dave McNamara said.
Proceeds from the Charity Shield game ticket sales will help support Foodbank’s work.
For every $1 we receive, we’re able to provide 2 meals for someone in need. It’s that simple.
