Bridging the distance

Access to healthy food shouldn’t be a luxury. But in regional Western Australia, high living costs, vast distances and limited choices make it a struggle with potential health consequences.

The 2023 Regional Price Index paints a harsh reality: groceries, housing and healthcare cost significantly more than in Perth while incomes are lower.

Our branches are now reaching out further

Through our Mobile Foodbank we are reaching out into more communities surrounding our branches in Peel, Bunbury, Albany, Kalgoorlie and Geraldton. We also deliver essential food relief hampers to to partners like community resource centres who act as lifelines for families facing tough times. Each hamper provides enough support to feed a family of four for several days.

Delivering into the Wheatbelt

Arc Infrastructure, a long-term supporter, plays a crucial role helping us bridging the gap in the Wheatbelt. Their support allows us to deliver specific and catered food relief throughout this vast region. They tackle a major barrier to food security – the difficulty of travelling to access provisions. Thanks to Arc Infrastructure, food relief hampers and transport to distribution to our charity partners in the region are fully subsidised, ensuring essential food reaches those who need it most.

It’s about more than food

We recognise that food security is about empowerment. We partner with local services to offer culturally appropriate food literacy programs. By building a network of fresh food access points and empowering individuals through education, we’re helping regional Western Australia achieve greater food security and overall wellbeing.
