We know that the last 12 to 18 months have been tough on many of you. With Bushfires, COVID-19, and
job losses impacting your everyday lives and terrifyingly, your ability to put food on the table. We know
that for many of you, you never thought you would need to access the support of Foodbank. But we have
been there for you and will continue to be here in your time of need – you are not alone…
To the family that can’t afford to pay the bills and find it hard to even scrape together $10 each week
for food.
To the single mum whose bills are due but the anxiety of not being able to afford them is all too much.
You just want to crawl into a ball and cry.
To the young man who is struggling with his mental health and every day life feels like it is spiralling
out of control. It all feels too hard.
To the mum trying to scrape together enough to make a meal but the cupboards are bare and there’s
nothing in the fridge.
To the family who has every blanket on to keep warm because you can’t afford to heat the house.
To the family whose car broke down and the mechanics bills are too much to bare.
To the dad that lost his job and now times are tough on the family.
To the mum whose kids lunch boxes are stale and you dread school holidays because they might ask for
more food. Something you can’t afford.
To the mum that needed to leave her abusive partner and was too scared to because she didn’t know
how she would feed the kids.
To the older lady whose husband passed away and the funeral costs have left her with very little.
To the mum whose child has been really ill and the extra medical expenses and transport costs are
crippling.
To the family who had their food stolen off their doorstep and couldn’t afford groceries for the
fortnight.
To the grandma who is a full time carer for her 2 grand children.
To the single father who hasn’t been able to find work since COVID.
To the man who has been diagnosed with cancer and has to choose between buying his medication or
eating.
To the international student who lost their job during COVID and couldn’t access fresh fruit and
vegetables.
To the woman who would have had no food to give her daughter on her birthday.
To the man on a disability pension who after bills can’t afford to purchase food.
