Over 30,000 meals raised with RAA

In October, Foodbank and RAA rallied together to fight hunger in South Australia with a mission to raise 30,000 meals for those in need in the community.

The Food Drive to raise additional meals, was in response to the increasing demand of food relief in South Australia, the added pressure from the pandemic, the rising cost of living and now the floods. Foodbank are seeing a hunger crisis happening right on our doorstep with a record number of Australians accessing our services. The Foodbank RAA Mobile Food Hub alone, distributes over 300,000 meals a year to those requiring food relief in metro and regional South Australia.

Over the course of 5 days, Foodbank and RAA visited 5 locations around metro South Australia with the Mobile Food Hub; a shop on wheels, to raise additional food and funds. The Food Drive raised a total of 33,095 meals, which was then distributed to the community free of charge during the week of the Food Drive.

We would not have been able to raise the targeted amount of meals without the support received from the community and cannot thank our supporters enough. We look forward to next year’s efforts with the RAA team as we continue to fight hunger together in South Australia.
