PAFC Round 19 Game – A loss for Power but a huge win for Foodbank SA!
At The Game- Port Members Show Huge Generosity
On Saturday 23 July, long-term major partner Port Adelaide Football Club (PAFC) and Club partner MG Motor, helped power a food drive for families in need at Round 19, where Port Adelaide played against the Geelong Cats. You could sense the tension in the air as fans gathered at the Adelaide Oval, to see whether Power could win this challenging game.
Generous Port fans dropped off bags and bags of non-perishable food items to Foodbank’s bright purple Food Donation bins, whilst coins rattled and cards were swiped, to donate much needed funds to help feed hungry South Australians.
Although not the win Port Adelaide FC needed, Foodbank experienced a huge win. Between food and monetary donations at the gates, almost 6,200 meals were raised for people in need. What a fantastic result, thanks to the generous support of Port Power fans, and our amazing volunteers who helped out at the event.
MG Provide The Biggest Win of The Night
To kick off the food drive in the week prior to the Game, the seven MG dealers across the state – including in Port Augusta and Mount Gambier – made a $10,000 donation, and they collected cash donations and non-perishable food items at their dealerships.
In addition to this, MG Motors held a dinner the night before the Game and they committed the funds they would raise during the evening. Not only did they raise $49,000 for Foodbank at the dinner event; at three quarter time of the Round 19 Game, MG surprised Foodbank by announcing they would commit another $30,000! That’s supporting Foodbank’s mission to end hunger, beyond expectations!
Thanks to the generous support of Port Adelaide Football Club, their fans, and MG Motors, Foodbank SA has been able to put more than 184,000 meals on the table, enough to provide meals for those we support across SA for nearly 10 days. Now that’s a win!
