Foodbank SA officially open Foodbank Food Hub Murraylands to support long-term food security for the region.

Foodbank SA officially celebrated the opening of the Foodbank Food Hub Murraylands on 17 March 2021.

Foodbank SA CEO, Greg Pattison said “Foodbank SA have been supporting the Murray Bridge community for more than 10 years and is currently supplying more than 50 local charities and schools in the region with food relief. In the last 12 months Foodbank SA has distributed enough food for more than 146,000 meals for those that are in need living in the Murraylands region.”

Despite Foodbank’s best efforts, an additional 140,000 meals is needed to meet the current level of demand. The Food Hub will aim to meet this meals gap in the next 12 months.

“We are excited to be celebrating the official opening of Foodbank’s Food Hub Murraylands at 209 Adelaide Road, Murray Bridge and the impact this will have on the long term food security in the region” Mr Pattison said.

The Foodbank Food Hub Murraylands will work with local agencies to provide referrals, providing a dignified shopping experience for those experiencing food insecurity. Someone who is need of food relief will be able to access low cost and free food, including free fruit and vegetables.

“It has been an amazing achievement for Foodbank SA to be able to take this next step in supporting the Murraylands. Mr Pattinson said.

We take this time to thank our supporters of this project, BHP, the Rural City of Murray Bridge, Shape, OTR, Seeley, Repco, Corporate and local businesses, Foodbank supporters, staff and volunteers for contributing to this exciting new stage in Foodbank’s strategic direction.
