Food Amnesty – A Drive Thru Food Drive provides 20,000 meals for those in need

On Saturday 9th May 2020, we held a Foodbank Food Amnesty Food Drive at our Edwardstown location. Although the weather wasn’t in our favour, we received an overwhelming response from the community. The Food Amnesty provided an opportunity for South Australia to donate key staples that were required, whilst remaining COVID safe from the seat of their car.

We aimed for an ambitious target of 10,000kgs of food, equating to 20,000 meals to be raised on the day and we are delighted to announce that we exceeded our target by 5,028 meals. A huge thank you to everyone that came along on the day and supported the Food Drive.

Despite the amazing donations received on the day, Foodbank SA are still supporting over 126,000 South Australians each month and the 25,028 meals will only last two days as the number of people requiring support increase by 30%.
