Your Kindness Supporting Flood-Affected Communities

In late 2022, early 2023 thousands of people in the Riverland and Murraylands communities were impacted by the Murray River flooding. Equally, in March 2023 torrential rain and floodwaters displaced remote communities and wreaked havoc on the lives of thousands in the Northern Territory.

It is thanks to your support that Foodbank has been able to respond with emergency food relief, delivering Flood-affected communitiespallets of food and water to Emergency Relief Centers in regional SA, and flying in food relief to remote communities in the NT, where vehicles were unable to go.

“It has been heartbreaking to hear the stories of people who were already doing it tough, being impacted by the flooding events earlier this year. Road closures meant that people felt disconnected from key services and had to drive hours to get their kids to school or access food. The higher fuel costs, coupled with the increase cost of living has definitely added significant extra financial pressure to those already in need.”
– Evelyn, Regional Mobile Food Hub Coordinator, Riverland SA

Luckily Foodbank has been able to provide critical food relief to those in need impacted by the flooding events.

Thank you for being such a vital part of our emergency response team.
